The support band were Dream Theater – another favorites of mine, but with extremely short set.  Just 6 songs, three of which we missed queuing to enter.  Anyways – I heard ‘Pull me under’. It still counts

So, here’s how it started. I decided not to go to this concert about a month before it. The reason – many other planned ‘events’, my diploma presentation which is due Monday, and some others. But….here is the big BUT.

The black thoughts came about 9pm the previous day… I decided I may try to go… started ringing phones – first my manager to allow me to take half day off, then friends to see if anyone is willing to come with me. Well, well – one was

That was enough for me.

The day is July 2nd. about 1 pm. Wooohooooo – took off for Kavarna. To see them – the Guardians

To see them again. And they didn’t disappoint me – although short, their performance was great!!!

p.s. The other performers this evening were Edguy (great guys, I should listen to more of them) and Scorpions (sang a few with them, Klaus Meine has lost some notes of his voice – but still nice band).

That’s the name of the extreme metal festival, held in my city (Rousse) yesterday. As a rock music fan, I couldn’t resist myself to check on that. Let’s get to a short resume of all the bands I heard.

1) Claymore – the home band. The guys actually performed their set while the sound guys wete still fixing the stage sound, etc. That’s what somewhat left a strange taste in their, actually not bad music.

2) Eastern Front -a UK band. Short, but screaming enriched performance.

3) Apostasy – this was the band I’ve been huge fan in my “extreme” days. I was expecting to hear them… to remember the good ol’e times. Well – they haven’t changed. Still nice music, although I’ve changed a bit – softened

4) Lord Belial – these were highly recommended from Sofi, a friend of mine. Couldn’t actually feel their music, but the performance was good.

5) Graveworm – the headliners. I’ve listened to them in the past, though I couldn’t remember anything from these times. The fans behaviour showed that Graveworm were great…. two songs added in the encore. And the lead singer announced that they will be waiting for the fans to drink “Bulgarian beer” with them in the bar afterwards.

So… it was nice to remember some oldschool days. Black Curse Fest is over, the memory remains

The support band (again Toma) started a few minutes after 8 PM and got some good cover versions of AC/DC, Dio, Judas, etc. The whole performance was about 30-40 minutes. Then we were told the “great news” – due to thunderstorm at the Macedonian border the trucks of the bands were kept about 3 hours there. So we prepared for such time, before the concert started. And it was alike – started at almost 11 PM.

But what a start it was. David Coverdale and company in full featured show. Some complain about the sound, some about the setlist, some about Coverdale’s voice. After been on several gigs I made my mind that the only thing that makes your impression from the concert is you – and I try to have great time, every time. So it was. I yelled, sang along with the group…. everything for the whole hour and a half of it. Somewhere in the middle the thunderstorm came to Sofia too. So we were in a heavy rain, but unwilling to move – and the euphoria was the same.

Unfortunately after the Snake gig most of the fans were soaked with water and due to the wind they were freezing. So was the girl I was with – and we both left the stadium without waiting for Leppard. I am still sorry about this. But I hope I’ll be able to visit them another time.

A great concert in Lovech city. Over 1 1/2 hours of favourite music out there, with thousands of other fans.Great songs including: “Burn in hell” (personal favourite), We’re not gonna take it, I wanna rock, The Price and of course S.M.F.

Great performance from everyone in band. Can’t say they are my personal favourite, but they made my day.
